- Proverbs 13:3 - "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin."
Don't look now, Lord! I don't want You to see me standing here with my big foot crammed in my mouth.
Don't worry, child. If I didn't love you just as much with your foot in your mouth, I'd hardly ever get a chance to love you. -(Susan L. Lenzkes)
The second item to share with you is from the book "God's Little Devotional Book for Moms":
- Children certainly brighten up a home. Did you ever see a child under 12 turn off an electric light?
- Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 (TLB) - "There is a right time for everything: A time to laugh..."
Parents have a few habits that children never seem to understand, or to copy - such as flipping off lights in rooms with no one in them and turning off faucets in a bathroom. In Family: The Ties That Bind - and Gag! author Erma Bombeck offers these "Commandments for the Utilities:"
1. Thou shalt flush. Especially if thou is fifteen years old and has the use of both arms.
2. Thou shalt hang up the phone when thou has been on it long enough for the rates to change.
3. Thou shalt not stand in front of the refrigerator door waiting for something to dance.
4. Thou shalt not covet the rest of the family's hot water.
5. Thou shalt honor thy father's and mother's thermostat and keep it on normal.
6. Thou shalt remember last month's electricity bill and rejoice in darkness.
Unfortunately, notes Bombeck, these commandments generally lay in a family like broken stone tablets amidst wet towels and melting soap!
Enjoy your day!!
