So, we did our clinic in Saintiacre (actually not in Saintiacre but a few miles this side of the mud) and had 37 patients yesterday. If it wasn't for the mud, we probably would have had 3 times that many. These were the ones who could walk the extra distance. We were also able to hand out 2 bags of Manna Rice (ironic isn't it!) which is a mixture of dry ingredients that you just add water and cook for about 20 minutes. It reminds me a lot of the soup mix we took last year to Petit Goave. The Manna Rice was given from World Wide Village. We have some Toms to give to the little kids too. This is so cool to see this side of that program!! Those of you who don't know about this, here's a little explaination: You purchase a pair of Toms shoes and get the one pair for yourself and another pair gets shipped to a 3rd world country. Tori has a pair but has them pretty much worn out. We'll have to get her another pair soon I think. It's fun to be on this side of it too!
Last night we had more rain than we've ever had! It stormed so hard and for so long!! Rain was coming in the house here. Dr. Paul said they haven't had rain come in like that before. They built up a little trench outside the back door so the water wouldn't come in. I was thinking of all those people in the tents and said a prayer for them through the storm.
Because of all the rain, our VBS for today at Saintiacre was postponed (hopefully not canceled) to next week if we can make it work. We ended up doing an impromtu VBS at the orphanage just down the mountain from here. We visited there last week. The puppet show went well and we gave them a snack but they really don't seem to be interested in playing games outside. This is so different than what we're used to. We do the best we can and share God's Word with them.
This afternoon was very hot and humid. I layed down for a while. Later on Dr. Paul told us he was going out and asked if we wanted to go with him. I immediately said Yes! He went to drop off some medicine to someone and then we went to Papa Pierre's house. We talked with Daphnie and Papa for a while. We talked about the Joshua House and how they have 3 out of 5 days funded for feeding the kids one meal. They're at about 80 kids now that are being fed. We talked about how we can raise the money for the other 2 days. It's about $55.00 for each day which would be $110.00 each week or $440.00 per month. If anyone is interested in helping fund these meals, please let me know. We hope to visit Joshua House while we're here but it's very muddy right now. Maybe we'll have to take motorcycles in... not sure. Daphnie, James, Tori, and me played Casino and learned that Dr. Paul was teaching us some "illegal" moves! I think the rules change depending on which Haitian you're playing with! ;) We had a lot of fun!! When you play with Daphnie, the loser of the round has to bark like a dog. I lost twice and Tori lost the last time. So fun!
Tomorrow we were scheduled to go to Book (pronounced Bo-ak) but we won't be doing that now. Hopefully still on Friday though. Tomorrow we're planning on doing a prayer walk over by Papa Pierre's house. We didn't get any rain today so it should be a lot dryer for us.
Thanks for all the prayers!
Blessings from Pignon!
Diane

Praying for you!!!! You may have tor remind me about the meals when you get home, but I will try to remember to talk to Steve and the kids.
Manna rice - how cool is that! I've never heard of Tom shoes either. What a neat program.
Hope it dries up and the next VBS goes well!
