Is Your Hut Burning?

This past Saturday was our Children's Ministry Retreat. I think it went very well and the focus, I felt, was prayer & passion and then to WAIT on God. Our timing is no where near perfect and only God knows the best time for everything. Homegroup last night was another awesome experience! There has been a lot of spiritual unrest in so many of God's people lately and we really need to BE the body of Christ every minute of every day!! God keeps telling us what to do and WHEN we need to do it but sometimes we don't WAIT for the response and we end up doing what we think is best when we think it's the right time. I was reminded of this story I remembered from years ago and wanted to post it for you today.

IS YOUR HUT BURNING?
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.

Keep the prayers going but don't forget to listen for His response! He will tell you the answer to the prayer when the time is perfect. BUT... while you're waiting for His response, don't forget to BE THE BODY OF CHRIST and help those who need help! Be His Hands and Feet!

Be a blessing today!

I agree with you - home group was great last night. Chad and I spent a long time talking last night about how we are to be the body of Christ.

Thanks for posting that story. It is so amazing to look back and see how God has worked through things that at the time were VERY difficult!

I love the story. It makes such a good point of God taking care of us. We see that often when we look back at our past, but it sure is hard to wait sometimes!
